Just the Push She Needed Towards Better Health

The trainers at FT have really supported me throughout the process, have worked with me in achieving specific goals, and have pushed me to work harder than I thought possible. Since joining FT, my endurance has improved significantly and my body has definitely toned up. Exercises that before seemed extremely difficult—jumping rope for a certain amount of time, holding the plank, etc.—are much easier now. I have a lot more energy every day and it’s a great feeling. Most importantly for me, I am able to keep up with my very fit friends in a variety of activities—whether it’s snowboarding, wakeboarding, hiking or running.
I am committed and excited to continue my fitness journey with FT and see even more results.

1:1 Training Works for Me!
I have been working out – training at Fitness Together for approximately 2 ½ years. I chose Fitness Together because I needed that one-on-one training experience.
I have a universal weight machine and numerous pieces of exercise equipment at home, but never seem to be able to dedicate the time needed to work out by myself. I have a set time, twice a week, for my one-on-one training at Fitness Together. Other than vacations or illness, I never miss a workout!

Combining Strength Training with Cardiovascular Training
I started working out at Fitness Together in July of 2014, when I accepted that I was unable to get my weight under control on my own. I do endurance walking, but walking 30 miles or more a week was not getting my overall physical condition where it needed to be. Since joining Fitness Together I had dropped three sizes by Thanksgiving*!

I joined Fitness Together about 6 months ago. My goal was to lose weight, and become a healthier person. As a result I’ve gained more energy and become more confident with my day-to-day activities. In addition to my high energy levels, I now crave exercise. I never thought I would say that but it’s true. Every day, I can’t wait to go to FT and use exercise to relieve my every day stress. Today, with the help of Fitness Together, I have lost 82lbs*. Besides losing weight, I’ve been able to run and jog, which in the past I have NEVER been able to do for more than a minute.
Due to my weight lose I no longer have knee, or back pains. My blood pressure is lower and my energy levels are very high. Most importantly, I’m a happier person! I attribute my success to a combination of healthy eating habits, and the trainers at Fitness Together. Their personal approach to exercising keeps me motivated. Each trainer has a different style that keeps each session unique and interesting whilst keeping a constant focus on what I need to do to get the best results.

The Perfect Fit
I initially came to Fitness Together because I was unhappy at the gym I was using. At Fitness Together I found a warm, caring staff that was knowledgeable, capable, and able to answer my questions and fill my need to become stronger, fit, and healthier.
The trainers at Fitness Together make the sessions an enjoyable social interaction while holding me accountable in the best way for me to get the results that I am looking for. My clothes are fitting better and I can now wear some things that I could not before I joined.

前and After, the Results Speak for Themselves
When I first came to Fitness Together I did not look the way I do today. Back then I did not want to get on the treadmill or the elliptical. We will not even elaborate on the “sit and pop” squats.
That was back in the dim and distant past. I did get on the machines and continued to come to Fitness Together. One day I was asked if I had noticed any difference in my body, I said no. At this point Dave retrieved a photograph that he had taken on my first visit. I could not believe the transformation. It was a huge eye-opener for me!
With that as tangible proof, I started walking 3 days a week after every workout with my trainer. I have walked up to 5 miles at a time, my pace is getting faster, my stamina and overall health is now very good.
Kelsey came as my new trainer about a year ago and the results kept coming because as we all know change takes time and perseverance. Kelsey has been a tremendous help to me especially with my nutrition and adapting to the new way of tracking my food intake. She is soft spoken and encouraging and I look forward to my time with her.
Oh and about that treadmill. Winter came and I said to Kelsey, “I will not be walking outside, what am I to do?”. She suggested that I use the treadmill and the elliptical on alternating days. She advised me that consistency and distance would be just as beneficial as speed. I did this all winter but will be happily returning to my walks this spring.
One more thing, I wanted my original “before” picture removed, however, breaking and entering and theft came to mind and I thought that was frowned upon. However, I came to understand that the picture has to be there as a reminder of where I started. If I gave advice it would be to TAKE A BEFORE PHOTO!! It is a great motivation.

Staying One Step Ahead

Thankful for Fitness Together
For as long as I can remember I’ve struggle with my weight. I’ve often said I was born a size 14 and went up from there. In the early ‘70’s, I became a lifetime member of Weight Watchers, only to add on more pounds over the years. I also felt that I would not live past 50 years of age because I didn’t take care of myself – didn’t watch what I ate, didn’t exercise, was not living a healthy lifestyle.
In April 2011, a co-worker (with similar weight issues) encouraged me to check out the Fitness Together studio across the street from our office. The idea of working with a personal trainer was terrifying! What would they think of a fat woman trying to walk on the treadmill, or lift weights, or even do step-ups, without huffing and puffing and needing to take a break every few minutes or so? However, my co-worker let me observe her session, and I spoke at length with Dave Johnston about my concerns and fears. Dave presented me with a plan to approach my fitness and nutrition goals while assuring me that I had nothing to fear; that I would be treated with respect and concern for any physical limitations I might have, and that I could be successful if I agreed to work with him and his staff. So, at age 58, I took the plunge!
A little over a year and half later, I have lost more than 60 pounds, and I have maintained that loss for several months*. I am also more fit in that I am able to walk longer distances than I had before, thus allowing me to enjoy my vacations a lot more than I have in the past. I began training at Fitness Together when I realized it was time to get off the couch and get into shape. I had not worked out in years, so I was very nervous for my first session. From day one my instructor has been sweet, warm and very encouraging. I love the 1:1 training, support and nutrition. My trainer pushes me to MY highest capabilities and is constantly praising my accomplishments. I look better, feel better and have so much energy!
Thanks to FT I have no problem keeping up with my two young grandsons. I am very proud of my accomplishments. I even recently bought a gift certificate for my daughter, so I can share this wonderful exercise environment with her. Now we have something to do together, besides shopping, that we both love and get excited about!
